I know I know, it’s been awhile, and before I get into the “Who? What? Where? When? Why?” and I sure will, I promise you it will be worth while the wait, let me tell you about the most decadent comfort food I have had a pleasure to enjoy last night.
After a weekend full of cleaning, organizing, decluttering and running [yup I clocked in 15+ miles], I met up with J at Blue Collar, located in MIMO district of Miami… To think that this gem is located only a mere few blocks from my office and it took me two years to discover it, is a shame!!! We waited for a table for about 15-20 minutes, but let me tell you every bite was worth the wait.
The concept of the restaurant is deli with emphasis on slow-cooked meats, roasted/glazed veggies, with pure home cooking style! The restaurant’s mission is simple – make food that people like to eat. And that’s exactly what it is. Everything on the menu was a delight and I wanted to try EVERYTHING, but we settled on a few things, mainly the veg chalkboard, with some more side dishes of veggies and cheesy polenta and of course the heat bar bread pudding. You can bet your life if there’s a bread pudding on the menu I am ordering it! No matter how full you feel, order the bread pudding, you will not regret it!
J and I could not stop gushing over the delicious veg chalkboard. Everything we ordered was perfect and we wanted more, especially the glazed brussel sprouts. Lately I can’t seem to get enough of the brussel sprouts – I’ve had them for dinner on Saturday, last night and they will be gracing my menu for the Meatless Monday today.
Though we had 7 different kinds of vegetables, everything was so tasty, unique and flavors well balanced. Every bite of every morsel of food was an explosion of flavor! or I was really hungry!
Might I add that the “NEW ME” shared this whole meal with J! I know I am shocked too…Well not everything, I had the bread pudding to myself! I can say with certainty, I survived…sharing food is not my thing, but I am starting to like it. They say “sharing is caring”!
Don’t be intimidated by its location in the parking lot of the a shady motel on Biscayne…once you’re inside, or at least eating, you forget where you are. Blue Collar is definitely a casual, unassuming restaurant with a cool vibe, fantastic food, exceptional service, and what’s more a great value.
