I like nothing better than a Friday, OK, maybe a Saturday morning. But never the less, Friday brings pure happiness. It’s a sign that the week of long days at work are over and all the fun times are just about to begin.
To reward myself for all the good work – making my own coffee, lunches and home cooked dinners, I make Friday a treat day. I start my day with ice-venti non-fat latte and a blueberry scone.
This buttery, flaky and sweet scone is soooo delicious. The only problem, which I just discovered today, that this scrumptious treat has 460 calories, 190 calories from fat, 22 grams of fat and 12 grams of saturated fat. Let’s make this clear – I don’t count calories, I don’t diet, I don’t believe in restrictive eating and I believe in indulging every once in awhile, and eating balanced meals, but for a tiny breakfast that this is, it’s just too much of everything. So disappointing. But don’t fret, Starbucks also offers “Tasty Bites – 350 Calories or Less” so I am sure I will find just as scrumptious replacement.
The rest of the day, my eats are all home made. Lunch – sorry no pics…. but it was a tasty sandwich with turkey breast, pepper jack cheese, hummus, cucumbers and arugula. Oh the peppery taste of arugula is so irresistible – I just can’t get enough of it.
Dinner time was chef’s go-to meal on boys’ nights out – chicken pita pockets. So simple, so nutritious, so delicious. I love juicy tomatoes, flavorful feta, warm pitas…oh yeah, there was some chicken too 😉 There is a lot of it left, so you can be sure I will be having this over a bed of arugula tomorrow for lunch! I do not have the recipe, but perhaps the chef will leave it in the comments section 🙂
My other treat of a day was a glass of Sauvignon Blanc – actually I ended up having two. Now that’s a real treat….yum!!!!
Mili-Mali is in bed, sound-asleep and I am cuddling on the couch with the sous-chef and a new book that arrived today – The FLEXITARIAN DIET. I heard the author of this book speak at an event I attended last weekend – Dawn Jackson Blatner. She was an incredible speaker – enthusiastic, energetic, engaging and her topic was really interesting to me – the mostly vegetarian way to eating. Can’t wait to learn more!
Have a scrumptious weekend and wishing you many good eats!!!
