Cupcake Wars

I am not sure what happened to the weekend – I believe it was here. Weekends come and go so fast and I never get everything done. My TO-DO lists are endless and by the time Sunday eve comes around I am wishing for a few more hours, or just one more day. I need more time, and I have no idea where to find it. But in the midst of craziness that is happening around here, the chef and I went to our friends’ house and participated in “CUPCAKE WARS”.Every year our friends put together some type of Food Network related competition and in the past we have done pizza, iron chef, etc and this year – it was all about the cupcakes!!!! The chef and I were judges in the past and this time we decided to participate. We did a trial run on one of the cupcakes, but they were not chef approved, so we took a different recipe to the competition. Needless to say, we had no idea what we were doing, but we had an amazing time. I guess it’s no big news – we didn’t win :)There were six teams competing and everyone’s cupcakes were so creative – some practiced for days…Tiramisu cupcake – the presentation is fabulous!!!A trained chef at work…I was speechless after I tried this cupcake – delicious!!!Secret: the winner of the competition!!!The judges – I tried to bribe them, but…Just in case there was not enough food, the hosts decided to make homemade pizza too, which was really good – the dough was soooo GOOD – fun times for kids…The cupcakes that didn’t win, but I am so proud of our work…My favorite – banana peanut buter – YUM!Monster cupcakes – cream cheese, amaretto and chocolate cupcake 🙂It was very refreshing to take a break from all the nesting I’ve been doing. We had so much fun baking, eating and socializing. I was on such a sugar high from tasting all the cupcakes, and Mili-Mali was having a party – perhaps a little too much sugar for both of us. I wonder if she will have a sweet tooth like her mama ;)Congrats to the winner – it was well deserved!!! The word on the street is that the judges liked our cupcake, but it was a tad-bit over-baked – I guess with some more practice, it will be perfect for the next competition.

I love this idea! I'm obsessed with the Food Network and all their shows. Unfortunately I'm the only one out of all my friends that likes to cook/bake! 🙂

I like the Tiramisu cupcake a lot. The concept is impressive and elegant.
